Generation 2 - Rails Edition
FreeSQL.org has been in operation for over 4 years. About 3 years and 11 months ago it was obvious that it needed a significant rewrite as the site was my first php effort and I was quite a novice. About 3 months ago I learned about a new framework for making web applications called Ruby on Rails. I was attracted to it for many reasons including the inherent model/view/controller nature, integrated unit testing, and support for development/production environments by default.
So when my webserver died, it was a good opportunity for me to start from scratch with Rails. This rewrite is my first real Rails app and there is a ton to learn. However, I think it will allow me to improve and maintain the site better
